Established in 1972, Metric Tool & Stamping, Inc. is considered by many companies to be one of the best tool and die makers in the industry. One of the main reasons for this is that company founder and president Hermann Knauss brought many years of his own design and engineering experience from Germany. Growing up in Germany, he studied to be a watchmaker and underwent a rigorous toolmaker apprenticeship program making small precision parts for cameras. With that experience he was in great demand in the United States and eventually was the lead designer at an up and coming stamping company. After several years there he and an associate set out on their own in 1972. He served as president and master toolmaker at Metric for 25 years before retiring in 1997.
Although retired for 10 years, his experience, expertise, and attention to quality has been handed down to those he trained to carry on the traditions of quality craftsmanship at Metric Tool & Stamping, Inc..
